Sigma Theta Tau International

Hello All,
This weekend I had the induction ceremony for Sigma Theta Tau International for Nursing. It was held at the Honolulu Country Club. Sigma Theta Tau is one of the only international honor societies. This is the honor society that I wanted to get into the most and it had to be the last one I got into. Here's the pictures from the day...Enjoy :)

Here's Tami and I before getting food. They had fruit, vegetables, poke, pasta, fish and rice. It was pretty good. Then they also had chocolate and lemon cake for dessert.

This was the program for the ceremony. This ceremony was not just for HPU students. Since this chapter represents all of Hawaii so University of Hawaii Manoa and Chaminade University Schools of Nursing were included. Chaminade just started there nursing program this past fall so they do not have any inductees thus far. UH Manoa probably had about 10 students compared to 140 some of us HPU nursing students that were inducted. It definitely seemed to be an HPU dominated event.

Here's a little shot of the table.

They presented six awards to current members of the Gamma-Psi-at-large chapter. This was the first award given to Lenora Lorenzo who received the Na Kupono Award. This is a Hawaii specifc award that is only given out in this chapter.

The second award was given to Hobie Feagai who received the Practice Award. She is one of the Pediatric lecture professors from HPU.

The third award was given toGail Tiwanak who received the Leadership Award.

The fourth award was given to Leanne Logan who received the Education Award. She was my professor for Health Promotion and Education. The fifth award was for Victoria Niederhauser who received the Research Award. She is one of the Associate Deans at UH Manoa but she was not able to attend the ceremony.

The final award was given to Sunny Spohn who received the Service Award. She is one of the Community Health professors at HPU.

Here's me waiting for them to let us line up to get our cords and walk across the stage.

This is the pledge we took as an official induction to Sigma Theta Tau.

Here's one side of the line of us waiting to walk across the stage.

Here's the other side of the line.

This is the table with the shields with the Coat of Arms. Also displayed are flags from other countries that help make up Sigma Theta Tau International. The international headquarters for Sigma Theta Tau are in Indianapolis. When I move back to Wisconsin I'll switch to the local chapter there but Gamma Psi chapter-at-large will be always be my home chapter.

Here I am waiting and getting closer to getting my cords.

Yay I got my cords. This is one of the reasons I work so hard in nursing school and have no social life.

We all had to sign in the official Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Psi chapter-at-large inductee book. Since everything is purple themed we had to sign in purple. I also received my certificate.

Here I am with my certificate. I am now an official member.

This is the whole group of inductees that made it to the ceremony. It was a large group. I was standing in the back. There were lots of us and lots of pictures being taken.

After we got home I decided that I wanted to take pictures of all my certificates from the different honor societies that I am a member of. I also put all the cords on while I was taking pictures.

This is the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. I was inducted as a member of the Gamma Psi-at-large chapter on April 30, 2011. I got purple and white cords for graduation.

This is the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. I was inducted into the Psi Chi chapter at Hawaii Pacific University on April 10, 2010. I got a gold colored medalion and lapel pin for graduation.

This is my certificate for Alpha Epsilon Delta which is the Health Preprofessional Honor Society. I was inducted on April 9, 2010. I have purple and red cords for graduation.

This is the certificate for Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. I was inducted in the Phi Kappa Chapter on November 20, 2009. I have red and green cords for graduation.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures. I know you as well as myself are very proud of my many accomplishments. I would like to thank all of you for your support. I know it was hard to see me move 4,000 miles away but I know that this has been an amazing experience for me. I never would have gotten to experience and learn the things I have here. So thanks again :)
Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses. Jessica
