Snorkeling on Valentines

Hi Everybody,

My friends and I decided to go snorkeling this Valentines Day. We went to Hanauma Bay again. I was super excited about it because I got to test out my new digital camera underwater which was really exciting. We waiting at the bus stop for quite some time and it rained twice while we were waiting. We finally got to Hanauma Bay and got into the water right away. It was kinda windy so that made it cold to get in the water but once we got in it was fine. I took over 100 pictures and shot 4 videos. I decided to just upload the videos. I have to get better at holding the camera still but they are still cool videos. I've also put up some pictures from our day. It was definitely worth it. Enjoy:)

This is Addison, Jon, and Alex from left to right.

Here's a picture of the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a or the Hawaii State Fish.

This is Jon and I while we were waiting for the bus. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and video. The camera is great because I can take as many pictures as I want. We had an awesome Valentines. I'll write again soon. Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses. Jessica :)

I want to have a pet turtle when I grow up

Hey Everybody,

So on Saturday the 7th Tami, Alex and I went to Lanikea Beach again. There was one turtle on the beach and we took pictures and video. We also found this awesome hole in the sand that was full of shells so we got some cool ones. We also made a stop at Matsumoto's for shave ice. I had green apple, cotton candy, and strawberry creme for my flavors and they were awesome. Then when we were heading back to campus we decided we weren't going to make it for dinner so we stopped at Zippy's and had dinner. Jon met us there. It was definitely what we needed after the stressful week. Here's some pictures and video from the beach. Make sure your volume is turned up so you can hear what we're saying.

This is Haliewa looking towards Matsumoto's which is across the street but there are cars in the way so you can't see the line of people that are always there.

Hope you enjoyed this. I'll be writing again soon. Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses. Jessica :)

Welcome Back To Hawaii!!

Hey Everybody,

On Wednesday(1/14) everybody started coming back to HPU. I still had class on Wednesday and Friday. But it was wonderful having people around again. I still had class that Wednesday and Friday. The student group RAC had events planned during that weekend for everyone to enjoy. We went to the dollar movie on Thursday and after the movie Jon got back. I was supposed to have my last class for the winter term on Friday but due to high winds my professor cancelled class. On Saturday we went to Kualoa Ranch and took their movie tour which was a lot of fun. Here's a picture of the whole HPU group in front of the log that they filmed with in Jurassic Park.

Here's another picture of me in front of one of the bunkers that they filmed in Pearl Harbor. I still have to watch that movie to see exactly what part it was used in but interesting fact when the Japanese planes are flying towards Pearl Harbor on the morning of Dec. 7th they are actually flying the opposite way from the real Pearl Harbor.
On Sunday we had a beach BBQ at Ala Moana Beach Park which has really great views of Diamond Head. We had hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and smores at the BBQ. Here's a fun picture of me with Diamond Head in the background.

Also that first week of spring semester we had a dinner & a game (1/22). We went to Cheeseburger Waikiki and to the men's basketball game against Chaminade. It was also the unveiling of the new athletics logo and we all got free t-shirts. Here's a picture from the game and I look like I'm going to eat my basketball but I was having fun. From front to back it's Alex, Tami, Jon and well you know the crazy one at the end.
We've all been super busy with our classes but we still find time to have fun. We've been hanging out in Alex's room a lot and last Friday night (1/30) we watched a movie and then took turns playing songs on our computers. It was so much fun. Our plan was not to stay up too late because Alex and Addison were going on a hike the next morning with there hall and they had to get up super early but we didn't leave their room until almost 1 am. Here's a picture from that crazy night. So left to right is Tami, who is sitting on the floor with her back to the camera, Addison, who is on the ladder, Me, and Jon, who was also sitting on the floor.
So that's all the stuff that has been happening since everyone got back. I'm sorry it took me so long to get this up but I've been really busy and I finally got the pictures from my friends so I could put them up. I'll write again very soon since we are going to another dinner and a game on the 18th. Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses. Jessica :)

Happy 2009!!

Hi Everybody,

So I thought I would show you all pics of my new years decorations. Also I got my Christmas present from Aunt Tammy, Uncle Peter, and Rob and part of that gift was a gingerbread house so I enjoyed putting it together on Friday night. I hope you enjoy the pictures of that also.

Here's all the supplies to decorate the gingerbread house.

This is the finished house. I had so much fun decorating it.

Then I added the tree.

Then I had to add a touch of Hawaii to my gingerbread house. My gingerbread lady decided she was going to wear a bikini. I hope you enjoyed the pics. I'll write again soon.

Spending the Holidays in Paradise

Hey Everybody,

I'm keeping myself busy over the holidays in order to not miss home so much. We had class on the 22nd but convinced our professor to let us have Christmas eve off. I decided to take the week off from work so I could get a break too. I hung out in my room Christmas eve and Christmas day and I got to talk to some people on the webcam which was awesome. I had a Christmas movie marathon which was quite fun. I ate spagetti and meatballs for my Christmas dinner which was definitely strange for me. Here's a picture of my little Christmas tree with presents and cards.

The day after Christmas I had planned to go see a movie in Kaneohe at the mall. When I got to the mall I decided to go check out the deals at my favorite store here, The Seasonal Store & More, they were having a 50% off the entire store sale. So I went in and found some really good deals including some New Year's decorations. I went to see Marley & Me and it's a tear jerker for sure but it's also really funny. When I got back from the movie I decided to take a shower and when I got out the lights flickered a little bit and I just thought to myself that the lights were going to go out. And guess what a 1/2 an hour later the power was off. I texted my friend, Alex, who lives in California and she told me that the power was off around the whole island. I guess what happened it that lightening hit the 4 generators that power the electricity for the whole island and that's why the power went out. I watched movies on my computer until the battery was low and then I read my book. The first time I woke up on Saturday morning the power still wasn't back on but by the time I woke up the second time it was back on. I just lounged around all day on Saturday since some places didn't get their power back on until later that afternoon. I also took down all of my Christmas decorations and put up my New Year's decorations. On Sunday morning I went to Walmart to get some things. Then I worked on homework for my class. I had class today, Wednesday, and Friday of this week. I'm planning to go to the beach tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and an even better New Year. I was missing you all like crazy. Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses. Jessica :)

Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay Again

Hey Everybody,

On December 7th we decided to go snorkeling at Hanauma Bay again. We wanted to do something relaxing before we had to deal with finals week. After brunch we made our way to the bus stop and made the journey to Hanauma Bay. The most exciting moment of the day was when Tami heard someone say that there was a turtle over by one part of the reef that wasn't far from us so we decided to go over and check it out. Sure enough there was a turtle feeding on the algae on the coral. I got 2 pictures of the turtle. I also took some pretty cool pictures of some other fish.

The turtle is in the middle on the bottom of this picture. It was so cool to see one in the water. We can't wait to go snorkel with them at Lanikea Beach in the spring after the waves die down.

There were a lot of fish out when we were there. Definitely more than the last time we were there.

In this picture there is a slug. Its in the niddle to the left side. It's yellowish with white stripes across it's body.

Again you can see that there were a lot of fish around the keyhole which is where we snorkel since if we have to stop there is always sand to step on. And we're not quite comfortable snorkeling over the reef for long periods of time.

This is me with my snorkel gear on doing the shaka a.k.a. hang loose sign.

Here's a picture of the funky, cool coral that's all over the keyhole.

These fish were playing tag in the water.

I saw this fish the last time we were here but I had already taken all my pictures so I didn't get a picture but I saw another one when we went to look at the turtle. It's bright pink, blue, and green. Its totally my kind of fish.

This fish was huge and swimming right next to us so I had to get a picture.

The fish in the front was cool but weird looking at the same time so I had to get a picture. I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses. Jessica :)
