Spring Break 2011

Aloha,
So for spring break my goal was to relax and not think about school...well at least not that much. I realized while on break that I was totally burned out from the first half of the semester. Enjoy these pictures from spring break.
I started off my spring break by getting my hair cut and colored. It was a great way to start off the week. Plus I felt like a new person when it was done. This is the picture I took of my new hair. It was dyed a warmer brown with red and blonde highlights. I can straighten it or I just let it curl on its own.
After spending the day at the mall we went home to rearrange the apartment. This was something that we were going to do when we got back from winter break but you know how school just takes over your life...well at least our lives. Before we could rearrange I had to take down the St. Patrick's decorations. I ended up making it rain little green and white shamrocks. Hehehe :-)
So this is looking into the living room from our bedroom. We're not so sure how long we're going to keep it this way but we'll see.

This is looking towards our bedroom. I had to move my books to the bottom shelf because my books were making the shelf bend. FYI mom I'm definitely going to need a book shelf when I move back home....wink wink.
I worked Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at the Registrar's office. Had to make some extra money for when Stacy comes to visit. On Wednesday night after work Tami and I went to see Gnomeo & Juliet in 3D. It is a very cute, funny movie.
On Thursday we went to Waikiki to get some beach time. It was crazy windy all break and we ended up getting pelted with sand so we left after about an hour. Even with the wind it was still a very beautiful day.

After the beach we went to have lunch at Cheeseburger Waikiki. Yummy drinks and good food.
Tami and her drink.
On Friday I went to the mall. I just spent the day window shopping at the mall. I spent a few hours in my favorite bookstore, Barnes & Noble. I just like reading different books. This time's books of choice were a couple nursing books, Mosby's Pharmacology Memory NoteCards and 150 Tips and Tricks for New Nurses, and a couple cupcake books, The Big Book of Cupcakes and Martha Stewart's Cupcake Book. It was a pretty great book even with spending most of it in the bookstore.
On Saturday I went to Pearlridge mall and did some window shopping there. I did go to see the movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2. It was a pretty funny movie.
I also stopped by my second favorite bookstore, Borders, and spent a few hours there as well. I read some books about roadtripping the USA, travel in Europe and a book about the Kardashian sisters. I'm totally hooked on their reality shows.
That was pretty much it to my final spring break. I didn't do anything too exciting but it allowed me to relax and not worry about school. It was much needed and deserved. I think this is all for this post.
Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses :-)

Sea Life Park Videos

Hello again,
Here's the videos from the day at Sea Life Park.
Enjoy!!!

Here's the video from my favorite part of the Kolohe Kai Sea Lion Show. "I gotta cut loose, footloose"

Here's the video of all the sea turtles in the lagoon. They love when people feed them. They end up climbing on top and all over each other.

Here's the video to the finale of the Ocean Theatre show. "Here's your chance, do your dance at the Space Jam"

Here's the video of those noisy sea lions.
Hope you enjoyed the videos.

Sea Life Park

Hello All,
In the middle of February was one of my co-workers' birthdays. She invited all of us to go to Sea Life Park. I had class on that Saturday morning but I met them after class. I had quite an adventure getting to Sea Life Park that day. First off the bus was a half an hour late and then at one of the bus stops in Kailua an older gentleman fell off the bus. He didn't get hurt or anything but the police had to come file a report and the bus manager had to come. After another 30 minute or so delay and we were finally back on our way. I finally got to Sea Life Park an hour after I was expecting to get there but still had a fun time. Here's the pictures from the afternoon at Sea Life Park.
Here's a picture of me and the birthday girl, Dawn. Cristina is behind us and she also works at the Registrar's office. Their roommates from the dorms were also there.
This is the first thing you see when you walk in the entrance. Last year I volunteered for a President's Host event here. That was a fun night.
The first exhibit you walk through is the Hawaiian Reef Tank. You walk around the entire tank.
See the scuba diver cleaning the tank.
That was a huge and I do mean HUGE string ray.
Its a parrot fish. I have tons of pictures of these from snorkeling.
There were sharks in the tank too.
When you leave the Hawaiian Reef Tank you see the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle Lagoon. There are lots of green see turtles and the all have a letter painted on them so you can tell who is who. You can also buy cups of sea turtle food to feed them.
So cool :-)
This is the Kolohe Kai which is where the sea lion show is held.
They had a 2 sea lions perform for us as beauty pageant finalists. They had 3 rounds of competition between Miss California and Miss Baja Mexico.
Miss Baja Mexico painted a picture and the person in the audience who guessed what the picture was got to take it home.
This was from the question and answer portion.
This was the winner......Miss California.
After the sea lion show I went to see the dolphin, sea lion, penguin show in the Hawaii Ocean Theatre.

The first performer of the show was the penguin.
He was just too cute.
Then they showed us how in tune the dolphins are with their trainers. The trainer walked around the tank showing how the dolphin will respond and perform with her.

The last performer before the big finale of the show was the sea lion.

These 2 pictures are the ones I took of the finale of the show.

Penguins in Hawaii...crazy, right? They were just catching some rays.
This guy was just too cute. He was just sitting by the window waiting to get his picture taken.
Across from the penguin habitat was the sea lion feeding pool. They were so noisy. You could hear them all over the park.

Between the Ocean Theatre and Dolphin Cove was the Hawaiian Monk Seal Habitat. They were just enjoying the sun.

Isn't Hawaii just beautiful. Going to places along the coast like this I just feel myself saying "Wow it is so pretty here." I even find myself saying that when I look out the window. I don't get out as much as I did when I first got here but when I do it really makes me appreciate being here and getting to experience a place as unique as Hawaii.
This is one of the holding pools in Dolphin Cove.
They were all playing with basketballs and volleyballs.
This is the main pool at Dolphin Cove where guests get to heave their dolphin encounters and the Dolphin Cove Show. I didn't make it to Sea Life Park early enough to see that show.
Sea Life Park has the honor of being the only place in the world to have a Wholphin. This is a cross between a false killer whale and a bottlenose dolphin.
This was right before the park was about to close. These dolphins had just finished their last dolphin encounter of the day. They were getting some extras treats that were well deserved.
Sending you warm wishes and aloha kisses :-)
